The History, The Creation And The Development of The Massachusetts State Correction – M.D.O.C.’S Birthday was on Monday March 14, 1785. Massachusetts Is The 2nd State In The United States To Create A Department Of Correction.

Massachusetts State Correction is the 2nd State and the 2nd State Prison in America, Fort Independence on Castle Island in South Boston, Massachusetts. But  1st in Mass,  in the nations first Marine Hospital served as a prison for Massachusetts criminals and French prisoners of war. Massachusetts State Correction 1st State Prison Fort Independence opened from Monday March 14, 1785 to June 15, 1805 18th century. In October 15, 1970 Fort Independence and Castle Island was declared a National Historic Landmark. (Antonucci, Mike, The Development of the D.O.C. or The Development of State Prison System).

Massachusetts State Correction is the 2nd State and the 4th State Prison in America, Charlestown State Prison in Charlestown, Massachusetts. But 2nd prison in Mass, June 15, 1805 to November 1955 19th century. (Antonucci, Mike, The Development of the D.O.C. or The Development of State Prison System).

Connecticut Is The 1st State In The United States To Create A Department Of Correction.

Connecticut State Correction is the 1st State and the 1st State Prison in America, Newgate Prison in East Granby, Connecticut. Is the 1st in Conn,  substitution of prison for corporal punishment from originated in Europe to the U.S., 1773 to 1827 18th century. In 1976 Newgate Prison was declared a National Historic Landmark, (Reid, 2006, p. 522).
