The History, The Creation And The Development of The Massachusetts State Correction – M.D.O.C.’S Birthday was on Monday March 14, 1785. Massachusetts Is The 2nd State In The United States To Create A Department Of Correction.

Massachusetts State Correction is the 2^nd State and the 2^nd State Prison in America, Fort Independence on Castle Island in South Boston, Massachusetts. But  1^st in Mass,  in the nations first Marine Hospital served as a prison for Massachusetts criminals and French prisoners of war. Massachusetts State Correction 1^st State Prison Fort Independence opened from Monday March 14, 1785 to June 15, 1805 18^th century. Massachusetts State Correction is the 2^nd State and the 4^th State Prison in America, Charlestown State Prison in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Connecticut Is The 1^st State In The United States To Create A Department Of Correction.

Connecticut State Correction is the 1^st State and the 1^st State Prison in America, Newgate Prison in East Granby, Connecticut. Is the 1^st in Conn,  substitution of prison for corporal punishment from originated in Europe to the U.S., 1773 to 1827 18^th century. In 1976 Newgate Prison was declared a National Historic Landmark, (Reid, 2006, p. 522).
