25 Years Later Today and Still NO Armed Officers In Our Public or Private Schools!!!!! On April 12, 1993 Dartmouth High School Stabbing Dartmouth, Massachusetts The Murder At A New England American High School. If You Think The National Socialist-NAZI, National Fascist-NASC, YOUTH MARCH That Took Place On The 20th Anniversary Date of Westside Middle School near the city of Jonesboro, Arkansas and to Think That This Was Not Pre-Planned Deliberately With Malice to Be on This Date By Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting Survivors In Parkland, Florida You are Truly Mistaken.

Three teen-agers armed with a baseball bat, a billy club and a hunting knife burst into a Dartmouth High School and went into Mr. Murphy’s Social Studies Classroom and stabbed and murdered 16-year-old freshman Jason Robinson to death, people wondered if their seaside community had been invaded by gangs.

Two of the boys, 16-year-old Gator Collet and his cousin, 16-year-old Karter Reed, have been described by neighbors and classmates as misfits desperate to be noticed. The third boy, Nigel Thomas, 15, was said to have never gotten over his mother’s death six years ago.

The school day had barely begun on Monday morning April 12, 1993 when Jason Robinson was attacked in his social studies classroom. The police said that Gator Collet went after Jason with a bat and that while the social studies teacher Mr. Murphy was wrestling Gator to the ground Karter Reed whipped out a knife and stabbed Jason. Nigel Thomas ran out of the room, they said, but both he and Karter were caught before leaving the building.

The sudden violence, in a school that did not have security guards on its staff or lock its doors during the day, was bewildering enough. But also puzzling was the lack of an apparent motive; the only one the police said they could find was retaliation for an insult to Nigel Thomas’s mother.

Jason Robinson, was not even the boy who had called Nigel’s mother the name. His friend Shawn Pina, 15, apparently was. In addition, the police said, Shawn and another boy had beaten up Nigel before school on Monday. Instead of being in his regular seat in Mr. Murphy’s classroom, Shawn was in the office, waiting to be sent home. Few Roots in Town

School officials have taken pains to point out that Nigel, a freshman at Dartmouth High, is the only one of the three accused boys with roots in the town.

Each boy has been charged with murder, and each is being held without bail in a separate youth detention center. All three pleaded not guilty at their arraignment.  A hearing was held to determine whether they would be tried as adults or juveniles.

But the police say there are no gangs in the town. The boys charged in the killing had no following, the police say, and few friends. If anything bound them together, it was skateboarding and family troubles.

While there are pockets of poverty in this town 54 miles south of Boston, the image of Dartmouth, with its mansions behind stone walls and its vast green spaces, is one of prosperity and stability.

16-year-old Gator Collet pleaded guilty to manslaughter for his role and served over 10 years in prison.

His cousin, 16-year-old Karter Reed was tried as an adult and sentenced to life in prison for murder.

15-year-old Nigel Thomas who never went into the classroom, was sentenced to a year of probation; he later moved to Europe to live with his father, never to see Collet again.
